TBS Moves into 'Mansion,' Seeks Manly Men TBS, which will unveil its new identity as a "very funny" network in a couple of weeks, has picked up two reality series it thinks will help cement that image. The first, called "The Mansion," will pit amateur remodelers against one another in a run-down old home, with the winner getting to keep the spruced-up dwelling. The second show doesn't have a title yet, but its goal is to crown a champion Man among Men.Both shows come from Evolution Film and Tape ("Boy Meets Boy," "Switched!") and are slated for fall premieres."The two projects are exactly the kind of funny, light-hearted and innovative reality series we're looking for," says Steve Koonin, COO of TBS and TNT. "They take relatable situations ... and turn them into no-holds-barred competitions with hilarious results that will really resonate with our young, comedy-loving audience."TBS' pickup of the two shows also seems to further the notion that unscripted shows are the new sitcoms. Last weeks' broadcast network upfronts featured the fewest comedies across the six networks in several years, while several more hours were turned over to unscripted shows."The Mansion" will offer up a "Monster House"-meets-"Big Brother" competition, in which seven would-be Norm Abrams live in a formerly grand home while they renovate it, room by room. Viewers will determine the winner, whose prize will be the finished house. The second show from Evolution has neither a title nor a fully formed concept. The aim is to "put real men to the ultimate test," which apparently involves separating them from their significant others for a few weeks and putting them through a series of physical and mental challenges. The last guy standing wins a pile of cash.
